    Born on 16th June 1965 at Muskarai, District Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Had his college education in Colvin Taluqdars’ College, Lucknow. Graduated in laws (LL.B.) in the year 1991 from Lucknow University. Enrolled as an Advocate on 11th May 1991 and joined chambers of his father – Shri R.A. Upadhyaya – practicing at Board of Revenue for last sixty years, Shri Mohd Arif Khan, Senior Advocate and Shri S.K. Kalia, Senior Advocate. Mainly practised in Civil and Constitutional sides at High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, at Lucknow.

    Was appointed as the Chief Standing Counsel, State of U.P. in May 2007 and continued to hold that office till elevation as Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad. Appointed as a puisne Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad on 21st November 2011 and took oath as the permanent Judge of High Court of Judicature at Allahabad on 6th August 2013. Became Senior Judge of the Lucknow Bench on 28th March 2023.

    Appointed and took oath as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Bombay on 29th July 2023.
